I’m obsessed with all the pleasant state cleaning products I own & swear by them! I was so excited about this product & thought that I’d have the same experience, however, it just wasn’t the case :(
I find that even with 2 refill bars, the solution is simply too watery for washing up. I had to use at least 8 pumps every single time in order to get a decent lather, meaning I’d empty the bottle in practically a week! I think it’s an amazing idea but really needs tweaking to be fully effective; less water, more concentrate!
Love this product best change I ever made
Found this to work for lightly spoiled everyday dishes, but wasn’t great at cutting through heavy grease pots, pans or trays. Have found needed a fresh sink of water with even more detergent to wash them and get rid of greasy surface.
Thanks for taking the time to give us this feedback. We take all feedback very seriously and pride ourselves on delivering quality products. So thank you for helping us to improve so we can continue to deliver to this standard.
The dish wash has definitely been the most challenging technically for us to achieve a just-add-water solution that has no nasties and performs really well in all conditions.
4-5 pumps is probably about half a squeeze of a traditional bottle of dish wash, vs 8 - 10 is about a full squeeze. I would consider increasing the pumps in your case to see if this helps you get the efficacy that you're looking for.
Having said this, from the feedback we've received so far, we can see that it's performing well for those who tend to do smaller lots of washing or use it directly on cloths/scrubbing brushes or with dish wands. But for those doing larger loads with very greasy dishes, it may not be performing to the expectations some customers have about the level of suds (noting suds are not necessarily an indicator of grease and grime cutting performance and typically require the introduction of sulfates which we have on our nasty list.)
Some people have had this experience and we've found out they have only dissolved one bar instead of the two required bars. But this is not the experience for everyone.
If you ever want to reach out and provide more feedback you can always get in touch with us.
Thanks again for your support and commitment to making your homes and the planet a better place.
PS Team x
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE PRODUCT: I purchased the dish wash detergent refill from PS a while ago as a replacement for an equivalent product from a similar brand (as I had not been too pleased with that company's packaging or product). I found that while I loved the PS dish wash detergent much better - especially it cleans well and smells lovely - it originally did not work as well as I had hoped as it was not foamy/bubbly like ordinary dish wash detergent. Despite this, I have continued to use the product as I have developed a hack/solution to make it more bubbly/foamy!
ISSUE WITH THE PRODUCT: I found that if the product did not foam well or was not bubbly then I felt that the dishes did not feel *clean* as compared to other products that produce a lot of foam / bubbles. I also found I was going through too much product, as I was more likely to use more product than necessary if it is not bubbly - which is definitely not ideal.
I have seen a few other similar comments, and also PS commenting that it is not necessary to have foam for it to be clean. Although I realise this feeling that the dishes aren't clean is unlikely to be scientific and probably being silly.. it is definitely a state of mind! and you definitely don't want to have the ick factor when you've finished washing a dish! Which is why I have come up with the solution below.
MY SOLUTION: In order to get the detergent to be bubbly, I came up with the solution of using a foaming pump head in a bottle with the PS…
I reeeeally wanted this to be a game-changer product for me but sadly that’s not been the case. Firstly, the solution is very watery and doesn’t lather much at all. That would be fine if it had a hidden cleaning superpower, but I also find it doesn’t cut through basic food residue or remove oil at all. You also need to use A LOT of product for it to be minimally useful. After 3 days we’d used a third of the bottle, which is totally not sustainable at this price point. Regrettably, I would not recommend or repurchase this product.
Also, a small annoyance was that the bottle doesn’t match the hand wash bottle in terms of size or pump design. I had hoped they’d look like a perfect pair on the kitchen bench but they’re mismatched. Would be good to have a more aesthetic colour option as well - orange is quite a standout colour for a product you typically don’t want to be the feature of the space.
Thanks for your feedback Erin. We use all customer feedback to help improve our products.
We do have a blog on how to get the most from the dish wash as we appreciate the surfactants we use are not as harsh as those using SLSs and SLESs: https://www.pleasantstate.com/blogs/news/get-to-know-our-new-dish-wash-detergent
I've also noted your comments regarding usage and the bottle design being different and this will 100% be considered by the team when working on formulation and bottle design changes in future.
