Have you heard the news!? Pleasant State recently won Australia’s inaugural marie claire x Volvo Sustainability Awards 2024!
We are honoured and humbled to have been recognised by this world-renowned publication as one of the leading sustainable Australian brands.
Here’s a look at our journey, the significance of this award, and what’s next for Pleasant State.
The Journey to Sustainability
From the beginning, Pleasant State has been on a mission to change how we clean our homes, for good. We are passionate about creating eco-friendly cleaning products that don't just clean homes but, they’re better for our health and they are kind to our planet.
Our zero-waste cleaning products offer powerful solutions without harming humans, animals, and the environment. Packaged in reusable glass bottles, our products are concentrated and refillable; thus, reducing the need for single-use plastics. This innovative approach to green cleaning has struck a chord with eco-conscious consumers, establishing Pleasant State as one of Australia’s top sustainable brands.
Our passion for sustainable home cleaning goes beyond our products. From sourcing eco-friendly ingredients to using compostable packaging, Pleasant State adheres to the highest sustainable business practices. It’s why we’re Australia’s first B Corp cleaning brand and a 1% for the Planet member.
What This Award Means to Us
We are thrilled to have been nominated alongside an impressive list of brands all leading the way in the sustainability space. There were 28 nominees across seven categories: fashion, accessories, beauty, health and wellness, home and lifestyle, parenting, food and drink, and travel.
In fashion, Maggie Marilyn took the spotlight. In beauty, Emma Lewisham was celebrated for her sustainable innovations. Natalie Marie Jewellery was recognised in accessories, while Toy Libraries Australia made waves in parenting. For travel, Tasmania’s Freycinet Lodge was honoured for its eco-friendly practices. Ronni Kahn AO from OzHarvest was specially inaugurated with the Hall of Fame award for her remarkable efforts in the food waste landscape over the last 20 years.
The judging panel for this prestigious event included notable figures such as marie claire editor Georgie Abay, Thread Together founder Andie Halas, activist and author Clare Press, and sustainability expert Lottie Dalziel. The winners were announced at an intimate event in Bondi. Our co-founder Sian was invited along to represent Pleasant State, share our story, and meet the incredible people and brands involved in the awards. It was a beautiful and special event!
